January 31, 2026

Day 4, walk. 10 degF, the usual inch of dust snow. streets better than sidewalks. I stopped and came back from the 6 inch deep not-quite-packed snow. Too much work.

{in edit} I believe I was 'over-dressed', AKA dressed for the weather, not the activity. so, no heart rate race. too bad ...}

Day 3, row. except it's no degrees F outside. Maybe, maybe ,ot ...

January 29, 2026

Day 2, walk. fortunately, the temperature lept from 8 degF to 12 degF. Tall boots, parka, et al. I was warm enuf, and didn't not want to go further. was cold.



January 28, 2026

Day 1, weights. Temps near 10 degF, little wind, no snow. Lovely.

Did it. I felt well rested and strong. Glad that happens every now and then. No issues.






January 27, 2026

Day 5, row

temp was like 11 degF, but it wasn't snowing or windy. was cold in the fitness center too.

this was as difficult as i was willing to make it. was doing 24-27 strokes per minute, which for me, is non trivial. glad to be home.

i expect this'll be a new post for Feb

Day 4 or 5 maybe. I could use a walk, if the snow would slow a bit. Maybe later.

OK, it finally slowed/stopped snowing new stuff, still blowing old stuff. I figure I got 18 or so inches of snow.

So, I went for a walk. First time w/ my winter boots. Next time, in my parka. But still, I went ..

Day 4, walk. Yeah, no. One the way to a foot plus snow. My exercise was shoveling.

January 24, 2026

weather forecast has snow starting at 10am. looking for a rowing day. Found one

Day 3 again, row. light fine snow on the way there, not so light fine snow on the back leg.

I'm sitting in the corner of the gym, on the rowing machine, ceiling fans on, lights off. Two young ladies showed up around my 22minute mark. They had no clue I was there, so "Boo!". They were properly frighted.

Day 3 I dunno. it's -1 degF outside. I'll stay home.

January 22, 2026

Day 2, walk. didn't go long because it was 14 degF when I started, and my nose was getting cold. 15 degF will be the high today, and the low tonight will be about 4. About 2 inches fresh powder.



January 22. 2026

Day 1, weights. Two issues: 10_ and 11_ were BOTH heavy. 10 wanted to pull me off balance, and throw me at the weight stack. No bueno. 2) I waffle with the result of a one arm/side exercise. If I do 10 on each side, is the rep count 10 or 20?

left for the gym at 8-ish. Was 2 inch/hour snow while I was there. Glad I'm home now.

Today's temp right now (6:49am) is 12 degF. Maybe later. 

All the way up to 20s, so ..

I'm calling this Day 5, because I want to use tomorrow's warmer (upper 20s) weather to/fro the gym.

Today's temp is 7 degF. It's is supposed to be Day 3. I decline, so far, to go outside



January 19, 2026

Today's temp is 20 degF Parka weather. Walked till my hand and feet were racing to see which freezes first.
