Experimental Food 20191013: Giant Ground Turkey Cheeseburger

I saw this technique on one of the keto / low carb / zero carb boards I follow. One thing you quickly learn about high protein eating, is that food prep is an issue. Convenience, and say, grilling, aren't the same thing. Som big dishes, and a capture for the protein bowl.

Start with about 2 pounds fresh ground turkey, spread out on parchment lined 1/4 sheet pan. Very lightly, season with rubbed sage (2 pinches, sprinkled while high), and a delicate amount of fresh ground black pepper.

Oven at 425 degF. Bake 5 minutes, drain, rotate, and bake 5 more. Drain, blot off, then ...

I've had limited / poor luck finding edible fat free cheese. But, I found this at Wegmans, so thought I'd give it a try.

Shred the whole thing. Using 6 ounces, sprinkle liberally and evenly on the ground turkey.

Another 5 minutes at 425 degF.

This cheese melts great.
I do wish this didn't have corn starch. But, you need to make it out of something.

Out of the oven, drained again, and allowed rest for 5 minutes.
Cut into 6 servings, eat two of them for yesterday's lunch, and this for today's.

Reheated by nuke for 30 seconds.
Beauty shot close up.
