Exercise Log 20180904

A Tabata Cycle is named after a famous professor, who studied the virtues and benefits of High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT). One cycle consists of 4 minutes of 20 second intense work, followed by 10 seconds rest, repeated 8 times. It kind of looks like this ...

This is an image of a very heavy duty tool bag, with a tennis ball on top.

As a tool bag, this thing is extremely well built. So, probably 5-10 pounds empty. Fortunately, it's got a .67 cubic foot bag of pea gravel inside. Each bag of gravel costs $3. The stones weigh a bit more than 50 pounds, so this assembly weighs, say, 60 pounds.

For each cycle, squeeze the tennis ball, hard, in one hand, and in the other, pick up the bag. Walk for 20 seconds. While resting for 10 seconds, switch hands. Do that 8 times. If you survive the experience, you end where you began. Mostly. I ended about 10 feet short of where I started. Yet another metric.

One cycle was enough for today. Future goals: more cycles; add the second bag of stones; don't explode my head.
