Third InBody Scan 20190524

I've had a chance to study the numbers. Doc Mike (>> Mike DeBole <info@rocwellweightloss.com> << highly recommended) had only nice, and good, things to say about what I've done, and am doing, and the results I have. Only thing he told me that I didn't want to hear, is that what I'm doing takes time, and lots of it. And where to I go for that? Here's the numbers. Lots of numbers.

The items of interest to me:

Dry Lean Mass - lean mass without water - About where I had the first scan. This is goodness, because I'm down 14.8 pounds since then.

Body Fat Mass - This is The Number I care about most. Down 11.7 (3.9 + 7.8) pounds of fat. Compare to weight loss of 14.8 total pounds. Excellent result !!

Weight - It is easier to lose weight 'at first' (10.5) than 'later' (4.3). Still, I'll take it.

Skeletal Muscle Mass - This is The 2nd Most Important number. It is an important predictor of longevity and health. After losing 4.0 pounds in the first measurement pair, I gained 2.2 in the second. I think it's because of the water row work. That'll continue.

Percent Body Fat - A popular number, especially if the Weight is stable. Mine isn't. Still, down 4.2% is goodness, and I'm OK with it. Even if my target is 15%.

Comparison to my in home body composition scale (measurement, InBody, in home):

Body Water, 101.2, 97.1 << more than close enough

Body Fat Mass, 41.4, 41.3 << pretty damned close together !!

Weight, 179.4, 175.6 << add in clothes, and a 30 oz. protein drink, and they're close

Skeletal Muscle Mass, 77.6, 86.7 << 10% difference. dunno Y

Percent Body Fat, 23.1, 23.5 << close enough.

All in all, my two measuring systems are in pretty good synch.

Conversation with Doc Mike:

We talked about how impressed he was with my progress, results, and willingness to put in the work. He commented on my apparent vascularity, muscle shapes, and lack of 'puffy' look.  He asked me about diet, nutrition, exercise frequency and types.

The discussion about his rec'd protein powder (Orgain plant based) and my current powder (Raw Dynamix cold microfiltered whey isolate) was pretty much about carbs and absorption rates. I want fewer of the first, and more of the second. Diabetics have issues.

I asked if he knew of someplace I could get a VO2Max measurement. Nope. He suggested that Cornell, UofR, RIT and Brockport might, and that I might wish to call and ask. It's rather annoying that I can get immediate medical care for a minor trauma, but cannot easily get a measurement that best describes my cardiometric health. It's not health care, it's sick care.

I asked him for coaching tips to improve my form on the water row machine. He gave me some, and I told him what I did that wasn't that. He said many athletes did what I do. I left the ambiguity hanging.

I'll get another InBody scan in August, God willing and the creek don't rise.

Congratulations! Looks like very good results!

Regarding time: Well, its going to pass at the current rate regardless. Seems like you are actually making more of it, as you go along...

Keep up the good work!

Thank you.

The results from this scan were just fine. While I remain a bit uncertain about how I heard Doc Mike talk about me, I'm grateful for his words.

As for time passing, it does, and I'm caught between the go faster / go slower needs. I'm still on meds, still carb sensitive boy howdy, and still carrying too much body fat for a conclusive result.

I've never been all that sane or patient, you know. And this is pushing it.
