T2D to Alzheimer's Disease (AD)

One of the details I find fascinating about T2D is that it is part of the pathway to many disease states. Like, CHD and CVD and Alzheimer's. Big big deals. So, I pay attention.

I've made references to Peter's site in the past. Here's a link to a podcast on the subject of AD.

Here's a link to one of the two people involved. He's just a kid ...

The biochem and metabolic stuff in here is dense. I was grateful to find, in the notes, a list of 'things to do' to help. Because of that, this blog post ...

What are the five actionable things one can do to reduce the risk for Alzheimer’s today? [1:54:30]

* Disclaimer * — Richard likes to use generalities about as much as Peter, so remember that context and individual differences are critical

  1. Education — knowledge is power: learn about brain health
  2. Know — and manage — your numbers
  3. Exercise
  4. Optimize your nutrition
  5. Manage your sleep and stress
A few useful observations:

- The education part is huge. For this subject, start here ...

- Know your numbers is tough. I know what I do to manage my numbers, and when Richard was discussing what he paid attention to, well, I feel like such a slug ...

- The 5 items on his list are what I'm trying to do. Bias reinforcement, yes !!!

- The importance of sleep is massively understated in my experience. People need to sleep more, and better.

Take care,
